The Arts Ambassadors enjoyed a wonderful evening with renowned Guest Conductor, educator, and inspirational speaker Benjamin Zander as he talked about his bestselling book: The Art of Possibility, during "Zander Week" with the ASO in advance of his Saturday, January 23rd performance of Mahler's 5th Symphony. "The evening exceeded my wildest expectations. I think I can safely say that the entire group thoroughly enjoyed every minute" said Michael Weidrich chair of the Arts Ambassadors Institute (AAI). The Stakeholders, Inc., will launch its third in a series of educational institutes in February 2010. The Sustainable Communities Institute (SCI) is designed to educate and empower the current generation of young professionals in the Capital Region to transform their communities.
The four-month series of seminars and workshops kicks off on February 10, 2010, with a reception featuring a lecture by internationally known urban planning expert and social critic James Howard Kunstler, who will discuss sustainability in New York's Capital Region. An area resident, Kunstler is author of several books on urban planning failures and successes, including The Geography of Nowhere: The Rise and Decline of America's Man-made Landscape (1993) and, most recently, The World Made by Hand (2008). A seasoned speaker, Kunstler aptly describes his lectures as "stand-up comedy with some dark moments." “RSVP for the FREE SCI Kick-off Event on February 10”
