Board Service Institute

In addition to coordinating and supporting employee and corporate volunteer programs, Stakeholders, Inc. provides services that benefit nonprofit boards.  The Stakeholders Board Service Institute and Board Match Program connects area leaders with community needs.

Board Service Institute: Nonprofit Board Training

People may have the time and motivation for nonprofit board service but might feel reluctant to serve because of a perceived lack of knowledge or experience. Through Stakeholders training, volunteers learn:

  • Legal fiduciary duties of board members
  • Financial Fiduciary Duties of board members
  • Development and Fundraising
  • Strategic Planning/ Management

Board Match Program

Board service is the perfect opportunity to develop leadership skills, build new networks and make a significant contribution to a nonprofit.  Our Board Leadership Program trains and matches people to positions on nonprofit boards and committees.

For individuals seeking to become involved in community leadership, our Board Leadership Program prepares and recommends candidates for board positions, according to the needs expressed by nonprofit organizations, and the interests and skills of individual candidates.

Participants gain numerous benefits from the Board Leadership Program:

  • Enhanced leadership and management skills
  • Networking opportunities for individuals to meet and work with other professionals on nonprofit boards
  • Training in the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members
  • Greater understanding of and connection to the community
  • Opportunities to make an impact working for a cause they believe in
